Credit Risk: Analysis, Modelling & Management
A short-term approach to economic policy is exacerbating poverty
AFRICONOMIE LEARNING | INSTITUTIONAL CLIENT EDUCATION

The goal of credit risk management is to maximise a bank's risk-adjusted rate of return by maintaining credit risk exposure within acceptable parameters. This has proved a daunting task for financial institutions globally due to many reasons.

Despite improved regulatory guidelines, innovations in technology and the potential for Big Data in banking, banks continue to lose billions of dollars annually due to their failure to analyse and anticipate credit risks within the context of economic and social trends that has led to the deterioration in the credit standing of their counterparties.

The Credit Risk: Analysis, Modelling & Management course is part of the Africa Risk Management Intensive (ARMI) programmes. The course adopts a new, continuous and forward–looking approach to executive learning; and designed to assist risk professionals in Africa’s commercial, merchant and non–interest bank in credit risk identification, measurement, management and reporting.

It is the most comprehensive executive credit risk programme that augments country and regional specific risk issues with global perspectives in risk. The programme leverages innovation in technology and internet connectivity to provide a solution that’s tailored to the needs of risk practitioners in an uncertain, complex financial business environment with increased risks from societal, environmental and operational factors.
